Hockey East women’s hockey is already underway. The league’s 10 teams are Boston College, Boston University, UConn, Holy Cross, Maine, Merrimack, New Hampshire, Northeastern, Providence and Vermont. They’ve played two weekends of nonconference games, and league play opens Oct. 9. Here’s where things stand and everything still ahead. All times are Eastern.
Early season results
- Providence swept Sacred Heart, 4 to 2 and 3 to 0.
- Merrimack split with Lindenwood, losing 3 to 2 before a 3 to 0 shutout win.
- Holy Cross tied Delaware 2 to 2 in overtime, then won 4 to 0.
- Maine dropped a pair to Quinnipiac, 2 to 1 and 4 to 1.
- New Hampshire fell twice at St. Thomas, 7 to 2 and 3 to 1.
- UConn lost both games at St. Cloud State, 4 to 2 each night.
