Team USA Announces Record-Breaking 232-Person Roster for Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.
Team USA on Monday released its full 232-person roster for the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, Italy, where competition begins Feb. 4, and the Opening Ceremony takes place Feb. 6.
It’s the biggest-ever group of US athletes to compete in the Winter Olympics, highlighted by 18 returning Olympic champions and seven athletes competing in their fifth Olympic Games.
Team USA consists of 117 men and 115 women, with ages ranging from 15 (Abby Winterberger, freestyle skiing) to 54 (Rich Ruohonen, curling).
Collegiate Connections
Of the 232 athletes on the roster, 67 have ties to universities or colleges.
The largest contingent of collegiate athletes—13—will compete in men’s and women’s ice hockey, including NHL players for the first time since 2014. Speedskating had the second-most collegiate representatives, with 10, while alpine skiing had 9.
